Origins and DistributionEdit

The Basilisk is an infamous Lizard-like creature, descended from the great Basilisk who fought on the side of Evil during the First Battle. They are spread throughout the warmer regions of Titan, notably in its deserts and the southern plains of Allansia.[1]

DescriptionEdit

Basilisks are about two metres from snout to tail, with mottled sand-brown scales and yellow eyes - though this observation has only been made on cadavers - and often move their heads in a very bird-like manner, tilting it from side to side, and forwards and backwards when investigating potential prey.

Special AbilitiesEdit

These legendary beasts kill by catching the gaze of their victim and petrifying them. An opponent needs to Test his Luck to cover his eyes in time and avert his gaze[2]. However, Basilisks also have a highly poisonous breath, similar to that of the Cockatrice, which can kill instantly.

The question of how a Basilisk eats if its victims are completely turned to stone is yet to be answered.

Further NotesEdit

  • Should a Basilisk catch sight of its eyes in a mirror or some other reflective device, it will turn itself to stone, hardening from living flesh to dead rock in an instant[3].
  • There have also been reports of particularly powerful Basilisks that dwell deep underground. See Mountain Basilisk for details.
