Blackhearts are a type of Humanoid monster from the Fighting Fantasy franchise.

Origins and DistributionEdit

Blackhearts are crossbreeds between Dark Elves and Orcs; how exactly these mutations came into being remains unclear.[1][2] They are exclusive to the continent of Khul, where they are commonly found in the northern regions. It is known that they participated in the War of the Wizards as part of the Forces of Chaos; they were ostensibly destroyed by the legendary hero Brendan Bloodaxe on the Battlegrounds of Chaos, but the race ultimately survived to this day.[3]

Blackhearts are usually employed as scouts and shock troops in the armies of Evil. Their weapon of choice is the jagged scimitar. Warrior parties may camp in regions for many days at a time.[4]

DescriptionEdit

Blackhearts unite the foulest attributes of Dark Elves and Orcs in both appearance and demeanor. Their faces possess none of the Dark Elves' sinister grace and beauty, instead sporting ugly, twisted features and mouths with rows of viciously pointed teeth. Blackhearts are cunning and merciless opponents who will attack an opponent as soon as they lay eyes on him.[5][6] They prefer to strike from ambush or from positions where their enemies are at a disadvantage,[7] and like nearly all troopers of Evil they have no sense of honor or mercy.[8]

Special AbilitiesEdit

As a crossbreed of two creatures originating from the underground, Blackhearts have the ability of Dark Seeing, but are also comfortable in operating in daylight.
