Boulder Beasts were a race of brutish stoney magical creatures.

Description[]

As a boulder beast was nothing more than a massive rock animated by a minor earth spirit, it is almost indistinguishable from its surroundings when motionless. Only its unusual shape could give it away, as they had grown humanoid features such as two legs with widespread toes and two arms, topped off with a head with eye-sockets and a mouth as a result of this animation.

They were slow but incredibly strong, able to tear off chunks of solid stone and crush them to dust - though this is more to do with feeding themselves, in a rather cannibalistic manner, than causing harm to others!

Origins and Distribution[]

The Boulder Beast is a result of an unfortunate attempt by an elementalist to summon a major earth elemental, created after a large number of earth spirits were released alongside their elder cousin and found themselves trapped on the Earthly Plane and unable to return. They were found across Titan, particularly in the Moonstone Hills of Allansia and similar areas.[1]

Slaying a boulder beast would allow the trapped earth spirit to return to the Magical Plane of Earth.

Special Abilities[]

Boulder Beasts were extremely resilient to injury from edged weapons, suffering very little damage from any hit inflicted on them by one. However, they are vulnerable to hits from blunt weapons like clubs or warhammers, suffering the full brunt of such attacks from one.
