The Crombane are described as "spawn of the dying earth",[1] and may be symptoms of the earth being distressed or stricken by powerful forces or foul magic.
They were seen spewing forth from a shrieking face formed by the ground in open country within Gallantaria, and were likened to Giant Flies with Human, plant and animal features. Their mouths are capable of spitting potent, armour dissolving acid.[2]
