Druid

Druids were priests of nature. Druids are mentioned and depicted several times in the Fighting Fantasy gamebooks, and associated publications.

Origins and Distribution[]

Druids are mentioned as being active in several parts of Titan.

'Druids of the north' are mentioned in Deathtrap Dungeon. [1]

Druids are active in the wooded wild lands north of Gundobad.[2]

The Geomancers in Royal Lendle, who worship Titan and other nature deities, are led by an Arch-Druid.[3]

There were rumours of evil Druids active in the woods near Wendeford.[4]

There are several Druidic stone circles on the Sourstone Peninsula, including the Nine Maidens.[5]

The Titan Herbal states that Druids on Titan are followers of the Plant Goddess Galana. They usually travel in rural areas performing fertility rites for the local farmers; some, however, become adventurers who protect woods and forests from Orcs and goblins.[6]

Druids on Orb[]

In Talisman of Death, there is a character called Wodeman, who is described as a "Guardian Druid of the Sacred Grove". [7]

Druids on Amarillia[]

In Casket on Souls it is mentioned that there is a magical item, the Golden Chalice, that is one of twelve Royal Magical Treasures of Amarillia. The book states that the Golden Chalice has the effective magical power "of a Druid's spell".[8].

Further Notes[]

The Druids in Fighting Fantasy are based on the historical Druids. The Druids served as religious leaders in the "Celtic", or La Tène culture, of ancient Britain, Ireland, and continental Europe. The Druids were widely believed by the Ancient Greeks and Romans to have powers of divination and magic.
