Lake of Death

The Lake of Death is a shallow lake north-west of Gundobad which is formed by the River Scamder spreading across a flat plain.

Never more than a yard deep, the lake is inhabited by deadly Poisonous Invisible Fish which will kill anyone who enters the waters. In order to avoid this fate, travellers may cross the lake using the services of puntsmen who charge a high price (6GP) for a place in their flat-bottomed boats. Knowing the dangers of the lake so well, these unscrupulous ferrymen charge an extra fee half-way across the lake for further safe passage.
