Nanka are supernatural beings that are servants of the Evil Gods. They are sent to Titan by their masters to ensnare the souls of certain mortals (normally those who would defy the malign plans of the Dark Lords and their minions) and to transport those souls to the Void for their masters to feed upon.[1] Nanka have also been recording working with the Demon Princes as intermediaries between the the Dark Lords and the Princes. [2] Nanka dwell in the Plane of Ichor region of the Pit.[3]
Description[]
Like the Suma they are invisible to mortals but should they wish to be seen they manifest themselves as a vague humanoid formed from thick black smoke in which a pair of dark eyes glint wickedly.
It has been written that a favourite trap of the Nanka is to hide in a glass phial as a Genie hides in a lamp. When the phial is unstopped it will flow out as a cloud of smoke and envelop the person who has released it. Thus its prey is trapped and it will return to its master.
Nanka are only vulnerable to magical weapons; normal weapons will not injure them.[4]
It is said that these beings were created in response to the creation of the Suma, but they are not related to them in any way.
Further Notes[]
- For years, the Nanka were one of those rare creatures that were described in Out of the Pit but nowhere else in licenced Fighting Fantasy publications. This is no longer the case, as they are mentioned in the the Arion Games Advanced Fighting Fantasy books, Demons of Doom and Rough Guide to the Pit. It's worth noting that this is not in fact true, their first appearance was in House of Hell (book).
