The table-sized sign which hangs outside the inn reads "Fine Foods, Wines, & Co. Clean Rooms. No sailors or soldiers". In addition to its clean rooms, The Grueler has a bar, which is licensed to open at noon, and a dining hall at the rear of the establishment.
At the time of the events described in Ashkar the Magnificent, the publican of The Grueler is a man called Toj, who lives in the inn with his wife Gufna. Toj employs the services of a groom called Juk and two serving wenches called Yelta and Lupi.
