The Howling was a spectral wolf-pack haunting Strigoiva at the time of the events of Howl of the Werewolf (book).
According to folk-lore it was a call of the wild or the ghosts of all hunted animals that died in the wild woods.[1] but when the alpha male of the pack was destroyed by a passing adventurer, the entire pack dissolved into the ether with it.
