Wizard Books is the children’s imprint of Icon Books, an independent British publisher of non-fiction. It was Wizard Books that took the decision to republish the Fighting Fantasy series of books.

Wizard Books was formed in 2002 by Icon Books with a remit to: "publish exciting, intelligent and fun fiction and non-fiction primarily for children between the ages of 8 and 13".[1] The flagship of their operations is the republication of Fighting Fantasy, originally published by Puffin Books from 1982 until the mid-1990s.
[edit] Fighting Fantasy
The order in which the books were and are being published is not the same as the original series. Until 2006, the books published were exclusively those written by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone, the creators of the original series. Of these first 23 books published by Wizard, one was a brand new adventure entitled Eye of the Dragon.
The next two books published were those written by Jamie Thomson and Mark Smith, namely Talisman of Death and Sword of the Samurai, and the most recent four books have all been authored by Jonathan Green, two of which were from the original series (Curse of the Mummy and Spellbreaker) and the other two being new adventures (Bloodbones and Howl of the Werewolf). The publishing of Bloodbones was something of coup for Wizard because this had book had gathered an almost mythical status amongst the fans of Fighting Fantasy as the sixtieth book of the original series that was never published.

[edit] Beyond Fighting Fantasy
Wizard Books are not exclusively Fighting Fantasy publishers and do have a number of other franchises including the adventures of boy-hero Joshua Cross as he travels through time, as well as guides to well-known authors such as Tolkien and Pullman.[1]
